The Association of
Public Pension Fund Auditors was
started in Chicago in 1991 by four internal auditors from pension
funds in Colorado, Illinois, New York, and Wisconsin. Click here

They established four major purposes for the new professional association:
Since then, APPFA has grown to over 70 member organizations, including the largest public employee retirement systems in 37 states and Canada. Its members are comprised predominately of public employee retirement systems, including state, municipal, and teacher plans. The membership meets twice annually in May and November. APPFA is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization incorporated in the state of New York.
